A fashion statement
We love, love, love, the ‘art of corsetry’ and specialise in offering a completely bespoke design service. All of our corsets are made using ONLY steel bones. Using a combination of ridged and spiral bones this allows us to create the perfectly engineered corset. By combining century old skills with modern materials and techniques, your corset will bend and flex with you, sculpting your body to create the silhouette and fit your desire. All of our corsets are designed and created in our studio using your own unique measurements.
So, whether you are looking for an underbust waist-clincher, Steampunk inspired corset with front busk fastenings or perhaps you dream of an ornately embellished bridal style for your wedding day. We have made them all in the past and will passionately continue to do so in the future.
The history of this timeless piece
Corsets have been around for centuries. Originally worn by both men and women in medieval times, providing both support and warmth. Fast forward to the Renaissance period, this is when we start to see corsets being worn by women to attract the male gaze.
Constructed using whalebone (it’s not actually whalebone but an elastic horny substance which grows in a series of thin parallel plates in the upper jaw!) the ‘hourglass figure’ is born. But it is the Victorian era when corsets reach their zenith like state, used to distort and manipulate the female form, in an unhealthy, restrictive way.
Thankfully we have moved on significantly since then. We now see the corset as a fashion statement rather than a social expectation. This bold yet feminine attire is now being worn by individuals as a symbol of empowerment and personal expression.
